Le soleil n'existe pas aujourd'hui

I don't have much to say. Working on an epic post for you!

[still wearing the t-shirt]

It was so rainy today and I had a horrendous stomach ache.

I also took a great photograph of my little brother, who's starting to find a look of his own. I really admire that. He's starting to look so much older! I'm excited to watch him grow into his look.

(this camera, which is new, is actually making my life so much more worthwhile. The Canon PowerShot G10 does all the work for me... which is great... since I demolish electronics... in one moment....)

I REALLY WANT THESE PANTS FROM AMERICAN APPAREL

Think I'll be picking up a pair tomorrow (provided they look good on).

In my lounging around today, I discovered Antonio Marras and think my life just changed. I'm not sure how to even begin to describe the nearly religious experience I had looking at his designs. I received one of his dresses for Christmas but didn't know much about it. Today I went on an adventure to find out. This is what I found. [all photos from New York Magazine's website]

SPRING 2010 RTW

I absolutely love the bow in the front of this one and the perfected twenties vibe that this look just seeps out of its very pores. It's just oozing with loveliness. The checkers at the bottom equal the perfect edge the look needs.

The tiers in these two just create something so... young. These looks are just so innocent.

It's so light and flawlessly English Garden-esque. It think more than anything it makes me want to lay in the grass, take off my shoes, and paint my fingernails light pink. This line... makes me beg for spring to come faster!

And a bit more to give you sweet dreams. These are not from a specific season.

It kills me how perfect these clothes are. The contrast of the khaki and the light fabrics... oh man oh man.

... and the trying on of faces begins.

Hello all--

I received on Thursday night my wonderful shipping envelope of Rimmel make up and an excellent tea cup necklace. So far, I'm loving the Sexy Curves mascara, the Crystal Mauve lipstick (which leaves your slips insanely smooth unlike most lipsticks), the Soft Kohl eye pencil, the Autumn Catwalk blush, and the 001 primer (which smells like lovely roses). I like a light make up with a little sparkle so I used my own sparkly eye shadow as well.

Here's what I've been up to with the make up

The black and white t-shirt features my friend's art. Her name is Solgil Oh. Another friend, Chantel, printed them so keep your eyes and ears open for more news of her up and coming company, Window, which will print young and unknown artists' work on t-shirts. She will be starting a website soon and I will of course let you know when that goes up.

I also took some pictures of my friend, Chantel, who looked absolutely great in a Forever 21 (gasp!) dress. All over the black lace thing right now!

Anyway, here's Chantel going wild for the camera!

This weekend I sat in on a focus group for Ruby Pseudo Consulting which was super great. They were the people who got me the Rimmel 10 deal and they've been nothing but wonderful. Ruby is also a genius... I think it's amazing that there are people like her who have focused their careers on meeting kids and talking to them. I really admire that. Check out her blog here at Ruby Wants a Word

Additionally, a friend, Kayli started a new project of painting in my boyfriend's room.

Look for my next post about the evolution of the London Look and what I've got to say about it.

Sweet dreams!

BAREFACED

Goodmorning.

I've got no makeup on for the Rimmel 10 challenge!!!!!!!

Saturday, January 16, 2010

and so we begin....

So I've been studying for midterms and while mindlessly copying out three-hundred-fifty flash cards, I've discovered two things about myself.
1. I do not write very quickly.
2. I get very sidetracked at a computer.

And on this adventure of studying, I have listened to the Andrews Sisters (three women who sang to soldiers in WWII) and done some thinking about fashion while browsing around online.

The first thing that occurred was that while I rarely wear all black, I'm very attracted to outfits that are all black and so that's what I've got on right now. The second was that I would really like a copy of the Facehunter book because what could be better (in my opinion anyway?)

On a totally different note, I've started this project called the Rimmel 10 Girls, which is all about bringing the Rimmel London look stateside. There are ten girls working on it and pretty much completing Rimmel Challenges, etc.

Tomorrow I'll be starting my first challenge: I'm going barefaced. That's right. No make-up for two days and I'll be recording it and keeping everyone up to date... and then afterwards, when I get a bunch of new make up, I'll go wild and try out tons of new stuff (which I'll definitely let you know about!)

So stay posted for some insanity (and perhaps some frightening content...)

so.lo. war.

that's me.
so. lo. war.

Hey all--

Keeping it short and sweet. The name is Sophia. The location is Brooklyn. The word of choice is contrast.

I'm going to just give myself a little voice on here, talk about style, and other random things that come to mind.

yours truly,
Sophia aka so.lo.
